2 Killed in Fiery Wrong-Way Accident near FM 646

HOUSTON, TX (February 12, 2024) – Two victims died early Friday morning in a wrong-way crash at the 2900 block of Interstate 45 Gulf Freeway. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m., near FM 646 on January 12th.

According to reports, a Toyota sedan driver was traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway, leading to a head-on collision with a Volkswagen sedan. Upon arrival, first responders found the Toyota engulfed in flames.

The male Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Medics transported the female driver of the Toyota to a nearby hospital for additional treatment.

The driver of the Volkswagen was also pronounced deceased by the responding crews. However, authorities have not yet disclosed their identity.

Currently, an active investigation is ongoing to gather more information about the incident. Further details regarding the wrong-way collision on Interstate 45 will be provided once they become available.
