A crowd of thousands gathered at the historic Trinity Auditorium last Thursday, May 30, to witness the wonder of Sukeban. This Japanese women’s pro-wrestling league, having recently made stops in New York and Miami, delivered an unforgettable West Coast debut at the downtown venue (later known as the Embassy Hotel, but long vacant) — covered by PAPER Magazine.

Celebrities in attendance included Diplo, Barbie Ferreira, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus and Saweetie who performed her new single “NANi.”

The event featured a five-match card, including a title defense by Sukeban World Champion Commander Nakajima, along with unique storytelling, limited edition merchandise, performances, and a Japanese-style night market. Sukeban’s mix of wrestling, fashion, and music has created a distinct and growing cultural phenomenon.
