58-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after 2-Vehicle Motorcycle Collision near Mile Post 89

LEAVENWORTH, WA (May 23, 2024)Steven Kowalczik was airlifted Saturday afternoon, and Steven Perez was arrested after a DUI collision on Highway 2. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m., near milepost 89 about 10 miles west of Leavenworth on May 11th.

According to reports, 36-year-old Perez was driving a 2000 Honda Accord and exiting a private driveway.
 
As the Honda started heading east, it collided head-on with a 2015 Triumph motorcycle, ridden by Kowalczik.
 
Paramedics airlifted 58-year-old Kowalczik from Kent to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. Steven M. Perez from Wenatchee, however, was unharmed.
 
After conducting initial investigations, officers found multiple signs indicating Perez was intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center.
 
Currently, the investigation into the head-on collision on Highway 2 is ongoing.
