22-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Scooter Vs. Auto Collision near Orchard Avenue

HAYWARD, CA (May 22, 2024)Sai Gollapalli died Wednesday afternoon, in a scooter crash on Mission Boulevard and Orchard Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m., on May 8th.

Officers report that a vehicle hit a man riding a scooter in the area. First responders found the victim unresponsive on the road.

Paramedics took the scooter rider, 22-year-old Gollapalli, to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries two days later.

Authorities stated that the 36-year-old Hayward man driving the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Detectives do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. Anyone with further information about the fatal incident on Mission Boulevard is urged to contact local officers promptly.
