Suspect at Large after Deadly Solo-Vehicle Accident near Sierra Road

SAN JOSE, CA (February 12, 2024) Rosa Magaly Zapata died early Saturday night in a solo-car collision on Piedmont and Sierra Road. Police officers responded to the scene around 5:41 p.m., after receiving multiple calls in the area.

Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered that a white 2006 BMW sedan traveling north had swerved to the right, leaving the roadway. Consequently, the vehicle collided with both a light pole and a tree.

Emergency medical personnel who arrived on the scene transported the BMW’s passenger to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased passenger as Zapata, a 30-year-old resident of Turlock. In addition, the male driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Although, police have not disclosed any information about the involved driver.
