1 Killed, 1 Arrested after DUI Accident near Clifton Court
BYRON, CA (July 18, 2023) – Saturday night, one passenger was killed and a driver was arrested after a DUI collision on Byron Highway. Police responded to the scene around 11:05 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Clifton Court. For DUI related reasons, the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban veered off the road and traveled down an embankment. Medical crews arrived and pronounced the Chevrolet passenger dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver to a nearby hospital with significant injuries. Following preliminary duties, officers determined that the driver was intoxicated at the time. As a result, police arrested the driver at the hospital for driving under the influence. At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the deceased passenger.
