19-Year-Old Male Driver Pronounced Dead after Rollover Collision near Deer Springs Road

ESCONDIDO, CA (May 23, 2024) – One man died and his female passenger sustained injuries early Tuesday, in a rollover crash on northbound Interstate 15.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m., just south of Deer Springs Road.

According to reports, the driver of a Ford F-150 and a Chevrolet Silverado were involved in a collision for reasons that remain unclear.

The collision caused the Ford to lose control and spin, while the Silverado swerved to the right and rolled over several times before coming to rest on the right shoulder.

Emergency responders pronounced the 19-year-old male driver of the Silverado from Murrieta dead at the scene. His 19-year-old female passenger was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities reported that the 24-year-old driver of the Ford from Descanso was not injured in the crash.

Currently, an active investigation is ongoing to uncover more details. Escondido Officials will release additional information about the rollover accident on Interstate 15 as it becomes available.
