Two Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Crash near Warren Road

SAN JACINTO, CA (October 18, 2023) – Monday, an accident on Ramona Expressway resulted in the loss of two lives, including 66-year-old Luis Bates from Artesia. The incident took place at approximately 6:27 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway, just west of Warren Road.

Officers responded to the scene, where an SUV driver, for reasons currently under investigation, veered into the median while attempting to pass another vehicle. This caused the SUV to collide head-on with a utility truck in the oncoming lanes.

Subsequently, the SUV veered back into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with another car. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced two occupants inside the SUV as deceased at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed two other drivers to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.

In response to the accident, San Jacinto Officials temporarily closed the section of the Ramona Expressway between Bridge Street and Sanderson Avenue to conduct an investigation. If you have any additional information, do not hesitate to contact the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station at 951-766-2365.
