Two Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near East North Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (May 23, 2024) Lizbeth Sanchez and Santiago Ceja were killed Thursday afternoon, in a two-car crash on De Wolf and East North Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver of an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The Silverado subsequently collided with a red Mitsubishi entering the intersection.

It is unclear whether the driver of the Mitsubishi stopped at the posted sign before proceeding into the intersection.

Medical personnel at the scene pronounced two individuals dead. They were later identified as 30-year-old Sanchez and 38-year-old Ceja, both occupants of the same vehicle.

Currently, police are investigating whether intoxication contributed to the incident. Fresno County officials will release more information about the fatal two-vehicle crash on De Wolf Avenue as it becomes available.
