40-Year-Old Antioch Woman Arrested after Deadly Wrong-Way Collision near Denny’s Restaurant

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (December 4, 2023) Kham Lam died early Tuesday in a head-on collision on Airport Boulevard.

Emergency responders arrived at the incident site at approximately 3:24 a.m. on November 21st in South San Francisco. According to law enforcement, a driver traveling in the wrong direction traveled through two intersections before colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

The collision resulted in the death of an innocent driver. The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased individual as 56-year-old Kham Lam from Daly City.

After the incident, the wrong-way driver left her vehicle and entered a nearby Denny’s, where she requested water. Authorities, responding to the scene, questioned and subsequently detained the woman two days after the collision.

On Monday, 40-year-old Cherise Nicole Shanta Wafer was formally charged with felony vehicular manslaughter. Wafer is presently held at San Mateo County Jail in Redwood, with bail set at $50,000. Once available, more details will be provided.
