Glen Matlock Plays With His Friends: Sex Pistol Glen Matlock has been splitting his time between solo work and playing bass for Blondie of late — his presence at Coachella last year with Deborah Harry’s crew was most welcome. And just to complete the circle, Blondie’s Clem Burke is playing bass with Matlock.

We chatted with Matlock back in 2019, and he told us that “I do things from all aspects of my career. The beauty of doing that is I’m not dependent on whether the band know a song or not. I can do any song at the drop of a hat. If somebody shouts out for something, I can normally make a good fist of it and if it goes wrong I can turn it into a laugh anyway. But all the songs tend to hang together. Every solo record started life on one of my acoustic guitars.”

Gilby Clarke (ex Guns N’ Roses, is also in Matlock’s band, and Stormhouse, the Infamous Stiffs, and Brad Logan also perform at Alex’s Bar. Frankie & the Studs open at the Troubadour.

Glen Matlock Plays With His Friends: The event takes place at 8 p.m. on Saturday January 20 at Alex’s Bar, then at 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 21 at the Troubadour.
