Rubi Rose opened up about her experience with OnlyFans recently. The rapper first grabbed people’s attention with her appearance in Migos’ “Bad and Boujee” music video, and she kept it by creating an OnlyFans account where she makes hundreds of thousands of dollars. She even claims that during her slow months she usually makes around $400,000. That amount comes from her diversified options on the platform, including offering exclusive photos, videos, private chats, and personalized messages.

She’s built an incredibly loyal customer base on the platform, including one man who had her portrait tattooed on him. He also reportedly spent over $60,000 on her page, though it was alleged that the entire situation was a publicity stunt dreamt up and set into motion by Rose’s team. Whatever the truth is about the stunt, it can’t be denied that Rose is cleaning up on the platform, making so much money it would feel very hard to stop. Which is something she may be considering based on a recent podcast episode she appeared on.

In an episode of Bobbi Althoff’s The Really Good Podcast, Rose shared how she really feels about OnlyFans. In a “trauma dump” segment of the episode with Althouff, Rose said she was “talked into doing OnlyFans” by her ex-boyfriend, rapper DDG.

“It was cool for the first couple of years, but now it’s like I have to keep doing it,” Rose said. “It’s just definitely put a damper on my reputation, but, you know, it’s a choice I made, and I’m just going to stick it out.”

This wasn’t the first time Rose shared this story. When the 27-year-old appeared on Logan Paul’s podcast, ‘IMPAULSIVE’ in January 2024, explaining that she launched her OnlyFans account in 2020 during the pandemic as many did — but that DDG’s encouragement is what really had her do it.

“I don’t want to be known as an OnlyFans sex worker,” she told Paul. “My ex did it first. He told me to try it. People had already been suggesting it, and I was twerking on Instagram for fun anyway.”

But how does she feel nearly five years later?

During that trauma dumping session on Althoff’s podcast, she admitted that joining OnlyFans has had lasting effects on her public image and personal relationships. Althoff pressed Rose to elaborate, asking if OnlyFans has changed the way people perceive her.

“Oh yeah, for sure,” Rose answered. “Especially in my relationships. I feel like guys don’t take me as seriously because I’m an ‘OnlyFans girl.’”

Rose’s story shows how helpful OnlyFans can be to creators, allowing them to capitalize on their fame and turn into financial gain. But OnlyFans does still have a certain stigma to it, and Rose is aware of how complex the entire situation is and how her choice to join, even if she was encouraged by her ex, has come to define her career and her life in general.
