Luce was a much buzzed about film when it premiered at Sundance earlier this year. The story centers on a model high school student (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), the adopted son of two white parents (Naomi Watts and Tim Roth), who comes under the scrutiny of a wary teacher (Octavia Spencer). Race and privilege factor into this psychodrama adapted by J.C. Lee and director Julius Onah from Lee’s well-regarded off-Broadway play.
