Shafiq Husayn spins a lot of plates in the hip-hop wolrd. From turning knobs for old school Ice T and Erykah Badu's New Amerykah Part One (4th World War) to dropping his own full length debut, Shafiq En' A-Free-Ka on October 6th, the peripatetically talented producer creates the soundtracks for far-out hip hop and head-nodding jams. But behind the scenes, Husayn is a sage. In a series of 7 video portraits by Eric Colman for Mochilla, we get a view into the mind of the master, proving that Husayn doesn't just have vision, he's a visionary.
