The arraignment today in downtown Los Angeles for Stephanie Lazarus has been delayed until July 6, even as her alleged victim's family flew to Los Angeles to meet with police investigators and state their case to the media. The sensational case is bound to give even more urgency to the LAPD's to date badly lagging efforts to test the old DNA sitting in their cold-case evidence files. As LA Weekly has previously reported, under Police Chief William J. Bratton, Los Angeles has fallen several years behind New York City, the leader in DNA testing to solve crimes.
