67-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after SUV vs Minivan Collision in Balboa Park

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 27, 2024) – One woman died Wednesday afternoon, in a head-on crash at the 3000 block of Florida Drive. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., in Balboa Park.

Upon reaching the scene, authorities found that a 2014 Toyota Sienna minivan traveling north had veered across the center line without apparent cause. This resulted in a head-on collision with a 2009 Subaru Forester in the southbound lanes.

Emergency responders transported the 67-year-old female driver of the Forester to a hospital, where she later passed away from her injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. The condition of the 32-year-old male driver of the Toyota minivan following the collision remains unclear.

Police have ruled out intoxication as a contributing factor to the incident. San Diego authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the fatal head-on collision to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-847.
