Dance goes al fresco and free as downtown's Grand Performances summer series hosts Diavolo and Noruz. Artistic director Jacques Heim and Diavolo's performers always deliver their branded blend of gymnastic dance with astonishing structures that resemble the best ever playground structure on steroids. In Suite Para Barrotes y Presos (Suite for Bars and Prisoners), the two dancers and actress who comprise Noruz use dance and dialogue (in English on Thursday, in Spanish on Friday) to tackle the somber subject of women in Colombia's prison system. As part of this 25th-anniversary season, Grand Performances offers a post-performance “MMM (Music, Movement, Meaning),” giving the audience a chance to discuss their reactions to what they have seen. Grand Performances, 350 S. Grand Ave., dwntwn.; Thurs.-Fri., July 7-8, 8 p.m; free; grandperformances.org.

Thu., July 7, 8 p.m.; Fri., July 8, 8 p.m., 2011
