In this week's print edition of L.A. Weekly, we profile Eagle Rock surf-punk star and general layabout Nathan Williams of Wavves *(who plays the FYF Fest on Saturday) and, really, the headline says it all: “All Hail King Skinny Shitster.”

But more was said during our interview that didn't make the cut. For one, Williams revealed that he's recorded an entire album with batshit insane drummer Zach Hill (Hella, Team Sleep, Goon Moon, Marnie Stern), and that it probably won't be coming out on Fat Possum, the label that just released his third album King of the Beach.

“I went up to Sacramento after Ryan left the band [while dumping a beer on Williams' head] and Zach offered to do my whole U.S. tour. It only took us, like, a day to learn all the songs, so we were like, 'we've got two weeks, what do you want to do?' 'We'll record a record.' Hopefully it'll come out end of the year.”

Continued after the jump.

“I don't know if Fat Possum is interested in it or not, but my contract's up with them in, like, six months. I'll be in talks with whatever labels for a little bit but I think it'd be nice to release that before I get tied into something else. Maybe I'll just put it out on the internet for free.”

Asked if he's definitely leaving the label, he offered:

“I don't know what the future holds. We'll see. The game is a lot different than it was. You're so tied down with of the majors, but some of the indie deals are the same. It's almost a level playing field at this point. I feel like there's no lesser evil. They're all … business.”

And on a lighter note, Williams discussed ambition:

“I just want to meet Lil Wayne. That's all I want to do with my life. I say that every day, in every interview, so hopefully somebody will publish that and someone will read it and make it happen.”

Wavves performs at FYF Fest at the Los Angeles Historic State Park in Chinatown on Saturday, alongside the Rapture, Panda Bear, Sleep, Dead Man's Bones, !!!, Local Natives and many, many more. Tickets are $30.
