68-Year-Old Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash near Vermont Square

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 9, 2022) – Saturday night, 68-year-old Virginia Meza was fatally struck by a tow-truck on 48th Street.

The accident happened around 8:00 p.m., near the intersection of St. Andrews Place at 48th Street.

According to reports, a tow-truck was traveling on South Los Angeles Street and struck Meza who was retrieving something from her vehicle at the time.

Upon impact, Meza was pinned into the door of her Toyota Corolla before falling to the ground. Upon impact, the tow-truck driver then fled the scene. Meanwhile, a neighbor who witnessed the collision immediately contacted authorities.

Medical personnel arrived and transported Meza to a nearby hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced her dead at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the tow-truck driver is still at large. California Highway Patrol urges anyone who has information about the suspect to reach them at their local offices immediately.
