We reported a couple of weeks ago on a story about a man in India claiming to have gone 70 years without food or water. Obviously, no one took it too seriously, but the medical military staff put him under 24-hour-a-day surveillance just to be sure. Well it's been two weeks, and Prahlad Jani hasn't eaten, had a drink, or gone to the bathroom once yet.

“We still do not know how he survives,” said neurologist Sudhir Shah. “It is still a mystery what kind of phenomenon this is.”

Jani has been released and sent back to his village, which is a little odd, since I'm sure we'd all like to see just how long this thing could actually last.

Shah added, “If Jani does not derive energy from food and water, he must be doing that from energy sources around him, sunlight being one. As medical practitioners, we cannot shut our eyes to possibilities, to a source of energy other than calories.”
