Amanda Bynes was a fan favorite in the late 1990s and early 2000s, appearing on Nickelodeon, the WB, and big screens everywhere. But she retired from acting at only 24 years old and has bounced around a few different careers and controversies.
But now she’s the latest former child star to join OnlyFans, though she vows she won’t post any “sleazy content.”
Bynes made the announcement in an Instagram story this week, sharing that she made an account on the subscription-based platform best known for its X-rated content. She shared in the disappearing story: “I’m on OnlyFans now!” with a screenshot of the account.
She added: “Disclaimer: I’m doing OnlyFans to chat with my fans through dm’s. I won’t be posting any sleazy content. Excited to join.”
For $50 a month, you can get access to Bynes and find out more about the elusive 39-year-old who largely stays off social media and tabloids. This is likely due to her struggles since announcing her retirement from acting. Back then, she tweeted the announcement.
Her statement read: “Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it. I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first. I’ve #retired.”
But just two years later she was in the news for a DUI. She had numerous other altercations with law enforcement before being put on a 5150 hold for 72 hours at a hospital in 2013. That hold was the start of a process that resulted in Bynes being placed in a conservatorship that lasted nearly 10 years.
The conservatorship was terminated in 2022 but not even one year later Bynes was back on another 72-hour involuntary psychiatric hold after she was seen in downtown Los Angeles without any clothes.
The former actress has tried a few different careers since then, including a brief podcast called “Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast,” and what seems like a failed attempt to become a manicurist.
But late last year she did join fashion designer Austin Babbitt in a pop-art show that featured her original art and clothing. When Bynes posted photos from the event that was heavily attended by friends and family, one fan commented: “We love you chica! You entertained us for decades. You are a legend! Do your thing, figure it out, fall apart, and put it back together. We are here for you always.”
Bynes is hoping many fans agree and will pledge their support on her new OnlyFans account. Her fans have been loyal to the actress over the years, despite her erratic behavior. Bynes has dealt with substance abuse issues and bipolar disorder, the combination of which led to those psychiatric holds and the conservatorship. It seems that Bynes has gotten her act together again, and one hopes that she can find some stable footing and create a career that she loves and that supports her.
