Breyon “Lightskin Bobby” Sweeting, an aspiring singer/songwriter based in Atlanta, is steadily making his mark in the music industry. Born to a Bahamian father and a southern belle mother, Lightskin Bobby’s natural talent became evident at a young age. His parents recognized his star potential when they witnessed him break dancing to Bobby Brown and MC Hammer videos, as well as passionately singing along to songs on the radio.
After relocating to South Carolina, Bobby began showcasing his talent in various talent shows at the age of seven. It was during one of these shows that he caught the attention of the renowned “Showtime at the Apollo” program. With his impressive rendition of Usher’s “Nice and Slow,” Bobby made a lasting impression, progressing all the way to the finals. Although he didn’t win the competition, the experience and exposure served as a catalyst for his musical aspirations.
Returning to Atlanta, Bobby started honing his songwriting skills, participating in talent shows across the city and consistently emerging as the first-place winner. Collaborating with his cousin Lakeem (Ali of the popular group Travis Porter), Bobby created three songs that garnered recognition throughout the metro Atlanta area. Later on, he formed the duo G&B with childhood friend Gregory Edons, expanding their group to include Darren (“DP”). Under the guidance of renowned producer Mr. Hankey, known for his work with Soulja Boy and Travis Porter, the group produced music together.
However, after a year together, G&B disbanded, prompting Bobby to put his music career on hold. Three years later, he reunited with childhood friend and producer Brandon (aka PS On The Track), reigniting his passion for music. On his 24th birthday, Bobby recorded “She Really Wanna See Me” in under 30 minutes, marking a significant milestone in his artistic journey.
In 2018, he released his project titled “Lightskin Bobby,” coinciding with his decision to adopt the name Lightskin Bobby professionally. This was followed by the release of his project “World Wide” in 2019 and his latest album, “Last Of A Dying Breed,” on his 30th birthday in 2020.
