Nobody does fashion like the Angelenos. From beachwear to Hollywood couture, the unique and diverse city knows how to do it in style. For the third year in a row, ThriftCon LA will be hosting an event to allow you to grab your best fashionable yet bang-for-your-buck purchase.
You can find unique and vintage clothing and collectibles from any of ThriftCon LA’s 100+ thrift store booths manned by vendors with a taste for style and an understanding of the word “affordability”— just like you.
Why Thrifting Is Awesome
Thrifting has always been cool and it’s also the solution to many predicaments.
Here are a few reasons why you should thrift.
- Sustainability
Fast fashion is a problem we should be concerned about. Manufacturers that produce clothes use a lot of energy, water, plastic, and many other resources. Furthermore, One World Economic Forum’s insight report states that the fashion industry is responsible for the release of 5% of the world’s greenhouse gas.
The public also contributes to waste pollution. The average American throws away 82 lbs of clothes annually; this generates more textile waste. Donating and (or) recycling clothes lessens these harrowing statistics. If you feel like updating your wardrobe, thrifting is the way to go.
- Great Finds
Fashion trends come and go. We thought we’d never see low-rise skinny jeans again, but there they are, back in their full glory. Before currently-trending furnishings were called rustic, cottage core, farmhouse style, or barnyard interior design, they were once “creepy cabin” furniture. Now, these fashionable goods are sought after.
You need not purchase a brand-new item or commission a craftsman to make new furniture when they’ve already been created in the past. Vintage products will forever be in season and they’re always available in thrift stores.
- Budget-Friendly
Do not be brainwashed into thinking clothes are disposable. There are infinite ways to recycle apparel. As much as possible, use what you already have. However, if you need new clothes, thrift stores have high-quality items that you can purchase at a (very huge) bargain; many of them are retro— if the products look well-preserved, then you know they’re built to last.
We’ve all heard of the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” but ThriftCon LA and its vendors would beg to differ— they see no trash. To them, thrifted items are nothing but treasures.
Where To Find ThriftCon LA This December
ThriftCon LA will be hosting its one-day event at the Los Angeles Convention Center 1201 S Figueroa Street this Sunday, December 11, 2022. You will find over 100+ vendors with their chic and vintage clothing and collectibles there.
Ultimately…
Dumping old furniture and clothes isn’t trendy and it should never go back in style. What should always be in season is supporting your local vendors who ensure you have high-quality yet economical vintage collectibles. Thrifting is a skill. The more you choose to thrift, the better your hunts are. If you haven’t started thrifting yet, ThriftCon LA will make it easy for you. There you will have thousands of items to choose from.
