Isai RochaLAPD announced the arrests of three suspects believed to be connected to the shooting and killing of rapper “PnB Rock.”
Two of the suspects were arrested were made Tuesday in Los Angeles, while the third was made Thursday, as one of the suspects was found in Las Vegas.
A 17-year-old suspect, believed to be the shooter, was arrested in Lawndale, with his stepmother later arrested in Gardena. The minor’s father, Freddie Lee Trone was identified by LAPD as a third suspect who was not found Wednesday. He was wanted and considered armed and dangerous, up until his arrest Thursday, where he is expected to be extradited to Los Angeles.
PnB Rock, whose given name was Rakim Allen, was shot and killed while having lunch at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffle’s in South Los Angeles.
One of the suspects is believed to have entered the restaurant, shooting Allen and taking jewelry from his possession.
Moments before the robbery occurred, Allen’s girlfriend publicly posted on Instagram that the couple were dining at the restaurant. LAPD Chief Michel Moore said they believe the post may have led the suspects to the couple.
The case against the suspects were presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney, who announced Thursday that both Tone and his son would each be charged with one count of murder, one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and two counts of second-degree robbery.
“The murder of Mr. Allen dimmed a bright light in the lives of his fans, friends and most importantly his family,” District Attorney George Gascón said. “The accused individuals’ alleged actions in this case were heartless and cruel and robbed the world of Mr. Allen’s talents.”
The son’s case is scheduled to take place in Compton Juvenile Court, October 19.
A full investigation over the incident is still being conducted by LAPD and a motive for the killing has not yet been established.
