23 crates of fossils were boxed after being discovered in a new parking lot construction site located next to the La Brea Tar Pits. Dubbed Project 23, the new Ice Age fossils include a well-preserved, 80% complete Columbian mammoth named “Zed,” prehistoric lions, tigers, dire wolves, saber toothed cats, horses, bison, coyotes, and ground sloths. This discovery could double the Page Museum's collection of Ice Age specimens.
