Two Drivers Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision near Mile Post 396
SCURRY COUNTY, TX (February 21, 2024) – Thi Yen Ngoc Nguyen and Victor Mendez were killed Monday night in a head-on collision on Highway 84. The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of the freeway near Mile Post 396 on February 14th.
Per reports, 30-year-old Nguyen was heading north in the southbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with a southbound vehicle driven by 45-year-old Mendez. Upon arrival, medical personnel pronounced Mendez dead at the scene.
Nguyen was transported by paramedics to Lubbock University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Emergency crews temporarily closed off the surrounding area for cleanup and preliminary duties. Additional details will be provided once they become available.
