The New Rose All Day, A European Summer in One Glass: Celosa Tequila

Tequila, an iconic beverage of Mexico, has captivated even the most skeptical drinkers around the world. But have you heard of pink tequila, otherwise known as rosa tequila?

Reflecting the passion and craftsmanship of Mexico with the elegance and sophistication of the South of France, Celosa tequila emerged as a unique addition to the tequila landscape.

What sets it apart? The innovative process of aging tequila in French oak red wine barrels from Napa Valley, where Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon wines have already matured. This process not only smooths the tequila but also gives it a distinctive rosé hue, with a silky finish in every sip that mesmerizes and delights even the most discerning palates.

Typically, tequilas are aged in whisky or bourbon barrels which is what adds the “sting” to more aged tequilas along with the woody flavor notes. By using red wine barrels, Celosa retains a much more aromatic, less woody essence, perfect for daytime sipping.

This may be the reason why Celosa tequila has become the top tequila of choice in the South of France found in the region’s top restaurants, bars, and hotels across St. Tropez, Cannes, Monaco and more.

What Does Celosa Tequila Taste Like?

To the palate, Celosa brings a flavor of crisp berries complemented by a light touch of vanilla. The French oak wine barrels leave a long, smooth, and sweet aftertaste that sets Celosa apart.

The Design of Its Bottle

Each Celosa bottle is unique (none alike), making it special. It features a black marble cap, hand-crafted by Mexican artisans in the state of Querétaro. The pattern on the caps is always different and unique, making no two bottles the same.

The twist on the bottle’s neck represents the blend of Celosa’s two components: wine and the tequila, while the bottom of the bottle is molded to reflect the heart of the agave at the center of it all.

The Story of Celosa

Celosa was founded by Jose Alonso Beckmann, the 12th generation of a tequila-making family that founded Jose Cuervo; Paul Pietrini, whose family background lies in wines and spirits through Montaner Pietrini, the second-largest distributor in France; and Javier Alonso, who was instrumental in bringing the founders together throughout the industry.

Initially launched in Europe during summer 2022, the brand has experienced immense success across London and France, now expanding to the US, Mexico, Europe and Asia.

The Meaning Behind “Celosa”

Celosa means “Jealous” in Spanish which encompasses the passion and love for the tequila the founders felt upon discovery. Breaking “Celosa” down in English “Cel” references “cellar” as in a wine cellar and “osa” references Rosa, the new tequila category.
