The desert landscape of Joshua Tree was taken back to a hazy, psychedelic time full of free spirits, mellow vibes and tie-dye shirts at the Desert Daze festival at the Institute of Mentalphysics. The Oct.13-15 weekend event featured such acts as Iggy Pop, Spiritualized, Eagles of Death Metal and Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile. With caked-on dust and a little bit of sunburn (especially by day three), Desert Daze had one of the most unusual and beautiful crowds a festival could offer. Photography by Shane Lopes
