The Harvest Academy is providing a compassionate response to the devastating LA wildfires. Led by its founder, Chef Supreme Dow, a US Army veteran with 22 years of culinary expertise, the nonprofit organization is dedicated to solving food insecurity in the LA area. In only six days, it has fed over 4,500 people impacted by the wildfires and is seeking to expand its rapid response service.
With the initiative to serve “10K Meals Across LA,” The Harvest Academy aims to serve over 100,000 meals to their LA neighbors, and the organization is prepared to help those devastated by the wildfires.
The critical response of local organizations highlights their vital role in providing relief and fostering community-led solutions.The fires have devastated over 10,000 homes and have impacted over 200,000 people. Harvest Academy provides food security needs with a rapid response effort amid the charred rubble.
Rapid Response Efforts
Dry conditions and strong Santa Ana winds fuel unprecedented wildfires. The ferocious fires erupted on January 7, 2025, killing 28 people, injuring many others, and causing massive structural damage. As firefighters fought the initial blazes, other fires broke out: Palisades, Eaton, and Hughes, among them. The Harvest Academy deploys rapid response services that provide immediate relief and sustenance to areas that need it most.
The rapid response serves the communities of Altadena, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, and anywhere else where help is needed most. The Harvest Academy is asking people to let them know if any areas need their services.
For a full-service operation, they also accommodate dietary restrictions and special meal needs. With the help of volunteers and partners, the nonprofit organization prepared, packaged, and delivered 700 meals in only four hours. This fantastic effort underscores the power of community and outreach.

Partnerships and People Power
The Harvest Academy was able to feed over 4,500 residents with the help of several partners, including Khalsa Aid SoCal, Operation Healthy Hearts, Vegan Women Summit, the Beryl Angela Smyth Foundation, and influencers like Lazurus Lynch.
They aim to host a Comedy Relief event in partnership with I Am Musicology to benefit those affected by the Eaton fire. The live comedy show features Keon Poole, Ron G., Tahir Moore, and a DJ. Chef Supreme Dow will provide the culinary services. While this event has been temporarily postponed, The Harvest Acemdy is actively working with local organizations to continue making a difference for those impacted by the fires.

The Club also welcomes volunteers in the kitchen to cook or serve meals. Donations are critical to their mission; providing a gourmet vegan meal only takes $5.
