Curated Cannabis has some of the prettiest looking weed you’ll see in California, and for this week’s edition of the Garden Glance, we’re taking a look at how all that fantastic pot makes its way into jars.
One of the interesting things about Curated Cannabis is they work with cultivators right at the moment of harvest and take over from there. As opposed to other companies who might wait for a final product, they have a lot more hands-on role in those final make-or-break moments. A lot of great pot is ruined after it’s chopped down during drying and curing. Executing either of the two incorrectly will prevent the cannabis from reaching its full potential.
For this run, we’ll be looking at the garden of their cultivation partners at Desert Horizon.
“We think the flower is most perfect at harvest when it’s in full bloom. We only process flower that is ‘true-to-form’,” Will Sun, Curated Cannabis CEO, told L.A. Weekly. “Your strain profiles are really helpful, especially when we don’t know the breeder. Everybody has preferences – whether you like Jacks or OGs is a personal preference. We want to make sure you’re getting the best representation of those genetics. The flower goes from harvest to jar and the pistils still look alive. The terpene profile and aroma is also preserved from harvest.”
- This Cherry Cheesecake is what the Curated team will be chopping down today. The team at Desert Horizon has gotten it all the way to the end of flower, and now it’s time for Curated to work its magic.
- The real work begins as Curated and their well-worked scissors make their way through the room.
- “Their flower is ‘fierce’ – each component of the bud is more developed and larger as compared to any other cultivator we’ve worked with. Their team does great taking care of their plants and it shows in the flower,” Sun said.
- After getting cleaned up by the trimming team, this nug of Cherrycheesecake is ready to get into a jar as soon as possible to preserve its wonderful terpene profile.
- “The nugs are then jarred based on their quality. The biggest will fill Curated’s top-shelf lineup of only the most pristine tops. As the price drops, the size of the nugs does too, and you’ll get more of them in the jar. We think this is a great way to grade product.
