Amy ScattergoodIf you're the sort of person who dreams of hamburgers, who spends an inordinate amount of time in line at In-N-Out, who has recreated the Umami burger at home just for fun, and whose friends have secretly been considering a vegan intervention, then you'll be overjoyed at the new hamburger website called The Burgerists.
Yes, you read that correctly: a hamburger website.

Yfke van Berckelaer and Micah Baskir, the pair behind the Burgerists, are two friends (she's originally from Holland, he's a D.C. native who's won awards for his grilled cheese sandwiches). They met a decade ago while studying film directing at CalArts.
At some point, they explain in an email, “We discovered our mutual love of hamburgers while drooling over the description of Hubert Keller's $5,000 Fleur De Lys burger.” Soon enough, they decided to turn their obsession into something more tangible than, well, dinner.
Van Berckelaer and Baskir have thus taken their love of burgers and translated it into an accumulating series of videos, each profiling a different L.A. burger joint. Below is a sample:

So at The Burgerists you can hear the history of the burger at Hawkins House of Burgers, then maybe wander around the site for a clip of a cook making a favorite burger at home, then another about a group of guys on a quest to find the best burger in L.A.
And because a great burger is often a moving target, van Berckelaer and Baskir will also keep us all updated on what's going on in the burger community. That is, before you get too hungry and just go make your own burger community at the counter nearest you.
