Two Killed, Seven Injured in Auto Collision near Oklaunion
VERNON, TX (March 26, 2024) – Than Than Shwe died Saturday, and Michael and Marissa Mullens, Hernando and Lorena Trejos were hurt in a 3-car accident on US 287.
Authorities report that the driver of a Honda Odyssey lost control, crossing the cable barrier in the median, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming GMC Yukon. Additionally, a Honda Pilot was unable to avoid the crash. Medical responders later pronounced Shwe, 43, from Vernon, and a 9-year-old girl from the GMC deceased at Wilbarger General Hospital.
Furthermore, paramedics transported Michael, 48, from Dallas, and Marissa, 45, to Wilbarger General for treatment. They also transferred three minors aged 13, 15, and 14, along with Hernando, 44, from Fort Worth, and Lorena, 39, to the same hospital.
Currently, an active investigation is ongoing to gather further details. Once available, further details will be provided about the fatal collision on US 287.
