Presenting unique perspective on political events and issues, the Hammer Museum’s “Hammer Forums” offer multi-faceted Zoom discussions that go beyond the noise of social media and network news and dig a little deeper. After the shocking events that occurred at the nation’s capitol last week, the museum’s Public Programs teams put together the online event titled, Insurrection at the Capitol: What’s Next? The discussion will include Loyola Law School professor Jessica Levinson moderating a panel of figures directly involved in the terrifying break-in and breach last week including California Congressman Ted Lieu, and California Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán, both of whom were forced to barricade themselves and hide during the riot. With Donald Trump impeached for a second time and Republican members who objected to the certification of the election facing potential legal repercussions, the desire for unity as President-elect Biden enters office seems like wishful thinking. But is it? This discussion will address this question and more. Thurs., Jan 14 at 5 p.m. PST. RSVP here.
