From the Department of Don't Even Try This At Home Kids comes this amazing story from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies say two of their own who had been conducting a pedestrian stop near West Hollywood early yesterday were inside their stopped patrol car when it was rear-ended by a drunk driver. You'd have to be pretty drunk to slam into the back of a black-and-white:
And, sure enough, deputies alleged that the slamming suspect in question, one 27-year-old Nadezhda Protsenko, blew as high as a .24 on a breathalyzer.
That would be three times the legal limit. We have a winner.
The sheriff's department says the rear-ending happened Monday at 1:50 a.m. on Santa Monica Boulevard near Orange Drive just a couple blocks east of their West Hollywood patrol area.
The deputies had stopped a pedestrian and were inside the vehicle when it happened, according to a statement.
Protsenko was hospitalized for injuries sustained the crash, the department stated. She was released from care and cited for alleged DUI, deputies said.
Authorities are hoping witnesses can come forward to help with the investigation. Did you see it? Call 800-222-8477.
