One of the scariest crimes to rock the Westside in several months happened late last month but wasn't publicized by Santa Monica police until last week.

It appeared to involve the kidnapping, rape and robbery of a woman in Santa Monica who was handcuffed, blindfolded and taken for a ride and eventually dumped off in West Los Angeles, according to the Santa Monica Daily Press and television news reports.

According to the Daily Press, the woman was walking east in the 2900 block of Ocean Park Boulevard, near Santa Monica Airport, and not far from Santa Monica College, about 2:30 in the afternoon on Oct. 26 when she was grabbed by two men who might have been lying in wait in a parked car.

She was put in a backseat, driven around and attacked.

The victim was eventually dropped off in a parking lot at Pico and Sawtelle boulevards in West L.A.

According to the SMDP:

The first suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 40 to 45 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a heavy build, short dark hair, a beard, and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 40 to 45 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a heavy build, bald with hair on the sides, a beard, and wearing a white T-shirt and a gold watch. The suspects were driving an older model, box-shaped, four-door sedan with tinted windows.
