David Rousso Apprehended After Fatal Pedestrian Collision near Bollay Drive

GOLETA, CA (September 25, 2023) – On Wednesday afternoon, tragedy struck when 29-year-old Ruben Reyes Victoria lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on Storke Road.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. along the southbound lanes of Storke Road near Camino Real Marketplace, close to Bollay Drive.

Reports indicate that 19-year-old David Rousso was operating a vehicle in the vicinity when he collided with Victoria, who was a landscape maintenance worker. Following the collision, Rousso fled the scene without providing any assistance to the injured victim.

Emergency responders found the unconscious victim lying in the bicycle lane. Despite their life-saving efforts, paramedics tragically declared Ruben Reyes Victoria, a resident of Goleta, deceased at the scene.

Sheriff’s authorities successfully located and apprehended the suspect, David Rousso, in the 400 block of Storke Road.

As a result of the incident, law enforcement temporarily closed the southbound lane of Storke Road, extending from Bollay to Santa Felicia, to facilitate an investigation by the appropriate authorities.
