Nothing says Christmas more than… tacos, ping pong and sex parties? Suffice to say we wouldn't expect anything less from Royal/T — Culver City's quirky combo of art gallery meets Japanese maid cafe meets retail store — which hosts its first annual Tokyo Social Club “Christmas is for Cupid” multi-player ping-pong tournament, taco-tasting and sex party raffle holiday party on Wednesday, December 22nd.
From 7 p.m. to midnight, you can enjoy five full hours of Forrest Gump-style ping pong competition. Between matches, fuel up on $4-6 taco creations made by chef Sean Chaney of Hermosa Beach's soon-to-open Hot's Kitchen (think a South Bay-style Tinga), including the Mojo Chicken Taco with tempura-battered chicken, caramelized onions, Mojo sauce, and cilantro; the Yard Bird Taco with Carolina chicken, braised cabbage, and Granny Smith apples; the Gyro Taco with grilled lamb, tomato, lettuce, grilled onions, and Tzatziki sauce; and Mom's Favorite Taco with ground Kobe beef, tomato, lettuce, sour cream, and avocado.
When your backhand inevitably gets tired, there is Royal/T's live music, provided by, of coures, DJ Santa. You can also enter free raffles hosted by Love Shack Parties' “sensuality specialists,” and potentially win a prize for the sexiest (read: most inappropriate) holiday costume. Tickets are $10 and are available at Eventbrite. While the bar will be shaking up Christmas cocktails, the evening is B.Y.O.Paddle.
