Rap artist Dolla was shot to death today near an entrance to the Beverly Center mall, according to sources familiar with the investigation. Dolla, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot several times at  3:11 p.m., after a fight between a group of individuals broke out. The 21-year-old up-and-coming Atlanta rapper was rushed to nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

A few hours after the shooting, 23-year-old Aubrey Louis Berry of Snelville, Georgia was detained at Los Angeles International Airport at 6:15 pm as he was attempting to board a plane.

Berry was identified as one of two suspects who allegedly took off from the mall in a silver Mercedes Benz SUV after the shooting at the LA Cienega Boulevard entrance of the mega mall. He was booked for murder and held on $1 million bail.

Police said Dolla had been involved in a fight with fellow passengers on his flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles. The police aren't sure whether the incidents are related.

Dolla made his debut with the single “Who the Fuck Is That?” He was

also a member of the hip hop group Da Razkalz Cru and went by the stage

name Bucklyte. His latest single, “Make A Toast,” was released on

November 4, 2008.
