43-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident near Mile 11 North

WESLACO, TX (October 3, 2023) – On the morning of Saturday, September 23rd, Rames Gonzalez lost his life in a hit-and-run bicycle collision on Mile 4 West Road.

Authorities arrived at the scene around 8:30 a.m., near Mile 11 North.

According to law enforcement, a black pickup truck struck Gonzalez, who was pushing his bicycle in a northern direction. The driver of the pickup truck then fled the scene without providing any assistance or aid.

Trained medical personnel rushed to the location and declared the 43-year-old Gonzalez deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigations have not indicated the involvement of drugs or alcohol, and an active investigation is in progress. Those with further information are encouraged to contact local officers as soon as possible.
