A plane crashed in an embankment near the 210 freeway in Sylmar with the pilot found dead inside around 12:30 p.m., Wednesday.

No other passengers were aboard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and the private plane was believed to be a twin-engine Cessna 337 Skymaster.

While first responders found a leak in the plane, LAFD said it was contained and no fire came as a result of the crash.

“Unfortunately, we did discover one person deceased inside the wreckage,” LAFD Valley Bureau Deputy Chief Trevor Richmond said in a press conference on Wednesday. “Right now the situation is static. There is no current hazard right now.”

The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aerial Administration.

LAPD has advised that people stay away from the area was the investigation continues.
