Former USC Coach Pete Carroll on Thursday decried the recently announced NCAA sanctions against his former football program, saying via YouTube that he's “shocked and disappointed” by the body's findings in regards to the team he ran, findings that included possible special treatment — including alleged cash and free rent — for player Reggie Bush and his family. The USC squad was banned from bowl game play for two years and had 10 scholarships taken away for three years starting in the 2011 season. Conveniently …

… Carroll took a job as head coach of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks before the shit could hit the fan.

“I never thought there was any facts that supported the significant sanctions that have come forth,” Carroll said. “The primary issue throughout the process was did the university know. The university didn't know. We didn't know. We were not aware of any of these findings.”

He said that NCAA had an “agenda” when it came to its USC investigation and that Trojans should “fight on.”
