It’s always been the stuff of local legend, but according to the city of Pasadena, the cheeseburger’s origins can be traced back to 1924 in Pasadena. It was the first time the Aristocratic Hamburger (original hamburger with cheese) appeared on the menu of The Rite Spot roadside burger stand on Route 66 — price: 15 cents.
