18-Year-Old Killed, 35-Year-Old Woman Arrested after Fatal Pedestrian Accident near Rio Vista Road

FORESTVILLE, CA (September 7, 2023) – Sunday, Alyssa Whitten was arrested and Oswaldo Cardenas Jr., died in a pedestrian crash on River Road.

The incident occurred around 5:20 a.m., near Rio Vista Road on September 1st.

Per reports, Whitten was driving a Buick Enclave and struck the male pedestrian for reasons unknown. Whitten then fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.

Due to the impact of the collision, 18-year-old Cardenas Jr., suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead.

On Wednesday, officers located the Buick engulfed in flames on Llano Road and Doyle Drive. As a result, police arrested the registered owner, 35-year-old Whitten and charged her with felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
