Bicycle-Auto Collision near Greenback Lane Left One Fatality

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (October 4, 2023) – Friday afternoon, a person was fatally struck in a bicycle accident on San Juan Avenue.

The fatal collision happened around 12:21 p.m. at the 6200 block of San Juan Avenue near Greenback Lane.

According to the police, responding officers located the bicyclist on the roadway suffering from serious injuries.

Unfortunately, first responders declared the rider dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.

At around 12:30 p.m., authorities closed Sylvan Road from Stock Ranch Road to Greenback Lane as crews cleared the scene. The roadway has since been reopened to the public.

Police do not suspect alcohol and drugs to be a factor in the incident. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
