Paul Rodgers is probably my greatest influence as a rock vocalist. After their debut album, the band was hitting on all cylinders. The array of songs, Paul’s vocals and simplistic musical synergy, makes this album endure as one I would wish to possess should I be stranded on a desert island. The soul, versatility and emotion he exuded on this album has always been a guide when crafting a vocal and putting together an album track compilation as a songwriter. The sparse yet incredibly effective instrumentation behind his vocal expressions are also a great example of how organic recording techniques and simple, effective musical interplay can be truly powerful.
