A Hispanic male in his mid-20s was shot to death on July 8 while standing on the corner of 28th Street and Central Avenue, near Tam's Burgers.
According to preliminary police reports, the victim was approached by an African American male around 9:30 p.m. The suspect fired several rounds, striking the man several times. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries just after midnight on July 9. It was the 17th homicide so far this year for LAPD's Hollenbeck Division – down around 20 percent since last year.
