Molly Lewis at the Troubadour: Lounge lizard enigma Molly Lewis plays a special Valentine’s Day performance at the Troubadour, simultaneously celebrating the release of her debut album On the Lips. “Molly is a lounge lizard enigma in the mold of Marty & Elayne, or like a figure out of an Eve Babitz book sitting at the bar at Musso & Frank,” reads a statement. “On The Lips is a dreamy tribute to mood music that conjures up misty visions of classic Hollywood jazz clubs and Italian cinema soundtracks.” Sweet!

“Molly Lewis shares ‘Crushed Velvet,’ a sultry and cinematic highlight from her upcoming debut LP On The Lips, out February 16 via Jagjaguwar,” reads a press release. “Though the accompaniment of Molly’s band is precise and evocative, Molly’s singular talent takes center stage – her notes are as soaring as they are controlled, as seductive as they are mournful. Thee Sacred Souls members Alex Garcia (drums) and Sal Samano (bass) perform on the track and co-wrote the song with Molly and Thomas Brenneck (Menahan Street Band, Charles Bradley, Amy Winehouse).”
Molly says of the new song, “You’re playing a high stakes game of dice, it’s your last role and a lot is on the line. You need all 3’s to win. Sweat drips down your brow. Lady Luck grabs your arm at the last moment. The dice spin… and then…. this song comes on, distracting everyone just in time for you to grab the moolah and run.”

Green House and ALIA also perform.

Molly Lewis at the Troubadour: The event takes place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14 at the Troubadour.
