Two Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Accident near Freeport Street
HOUSTON, TX (November 27, 2023) – In the early hours of Sunday, Michelle Baez Garcia lost her life in a tragic collision caused by a wrong-way driver on the East Freeway.
Emergency responders were on the scene at approximately 12:00 a.m. near Freeport Street on November 5th, following reports of a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction.
The vehicle then collided with another car in the opposing lanes. Medical personnel arrived and declared the passenger in the struck vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Garcia, as well as the wrong-way driver, deceased at the scene. The other driver involved was transported to a nearby hospital for necessary medical care.
In the wake of this devastating incident, the family and friends of Garcia have established a GoFundMe page to assist with expenses during this challenging period.
