Dennis RomeroAfter his first summer in office, it has become clear that Eric Garcetti is a different kind of municipal leader.
He actually uses Twitter (and, guys, KPCC is on it). He once tried out Google Glass (and wisely refused to be photographed while wearing the device — too cool). He established the mayor's help desk outside his City Hall office. In fact he's so Left Coast liberal that he could actually play himself on Portlandia, if only the series was about L.A.
He is The Most Interesting Mayor in the World:
To prove it Garcetti is actually having a desk placed curbside in Boyle Heights this morning (details at the very bottom) so he can hold court with his Eastside constituents while showing them the bottom of his oxfords.
Really.
And of course the mayor's office, the hippest institution in town this side of a Mad Decent Block Party, is calling it a “pop-up” help desk. Sort of like those roving, one-off restaurants that feature superstar chefs, but without the food.

Lucky for you, however, the help desk event will be happening right outside the original Serenata de Garibaldi, the smell of which should probably inspire long-winded citizens to wind up their complaints so they can get their stuffed poblano peppers before the eatery runs out.

Mayor Garcetti will participate in “Parking Day” by answering constituent questions/complaints at a “pop-up” Mayor's Help Desk temporarily set up curbside.
So cool!
