Man Fatally Struck by Multiple Vehicles in Pedestrian Crash near 19th Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (March 12, 2024) – Early Thursday morning, the authorities were called to a pedestrian vs vehicle collision on Interstate 17 that killed a man.

Just after midnight, officers were called to the northbound lanes of the freeway close to 19th Avenue on February 29th.

According to the troopers, upon arrival, they discovered one man lying on the highway with severe injuries.

Upon investigation, the troopers discovered that the man was darting in and out of traffic and was hit by multiple vehicles.

Moreover, at least five vehicles were involved in the collision with the man, and one of them fled the scene. Tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries, and authorities declared him deceased. His identity was withheld at this time.

Consequently, the interstate was blocked in the early morning hours, it was later reopened after the scene was cleared. Further investigation is currently underway. Phoenix Authorities will post updates as they are made available to the public.
